Virtual Clay

This was my degree dissertation project to complete the BEng part of my course. The aim of this project was to create a simulation of clay that could easily be incorporated into existing game technologies.

Eventually I settle on a technique called Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics to handle the physical simulation. I implemented it using C++ and DirectX 11, making extensive use of DirectCompute to handle the physics of the simulation.

The project won 3rd place at GradEx 2011, the Staffordshire University Graduate Exhibition, in the Games Design, Production and Programming category. The full GradEx 2011 catalogue can be downloaded here.

You can download a short video demonstrating the final application here.
