About

Hi there! Right, lets get the bit that sounds like a dating site profile out of the way first. My name is Chris Fitzpatrick. I’m a student at Staffordshire Universit studying MEng Computer Games Programming and I’m in my final year. I completed the BEng protion of my course in 2011 at a 1st class level and I’ll be graduating from my course in the summer of 2012. I’m interested in all areas of games programming and development include AI, physics, mathematics and graphics to name a few. I’ve also spent 16 months working with Varian inc and Agilent Technologies (they’re the other half of Hewlett-Packard) as part of my work placement and worked on a range of desktop applications for chemical anaylsis, data collection and instrument control with a small but talented team of engineers. I also play the piano.

Well now that’s out of the way…I thought I’d start this little site to show you some of the things I’ve been working on throughout my degree including my own projects and university assignment work. It will probabaly become obvious most of my private projects end up in an assignment in some form so that’s what I’ll be mostly posting for the time being.

If I come across anything I think might be useful to the world then I’ll also post it up here to immortalise it for….well until I forget to pay the server hosting people….

If I find time then I’ve also got some ideas for a few little tutorials that I think would be useful to people starting out in the world of programming, games development and anything else I find interesting. Who knows, I may also make some music related posts aswell.

Welcome!

Hi folks! Welcome to my first ever blog!

Right then – so I had this domain lying around and figured I should do something meaningful with it instead of just displaying a gif of a guy playing swingball by himself.

On that note, I guess I should start with a bit of a profile so lets get the bit that sounds like a dating site ad out of the way. My name is Chris Fitzpatrick though some prefer Christoph, RythBlade, Half Irish or “CCHHRRIISSSS!!” (ala Turks’ brother Kevin in the episode “My Brother, My Keeper” in Scrubs).

I’m interested in all areas of games programming and development including AI, physics, mathematics and graphics to name a few. I’m also interested in more general software engineering as I think both fields have things that contribute to each other. I spent 16 months working with Varian inc and Agilent Technologies (they’re the other half of Hewlett-Packard) as part of my work placement working on a range of desktop applications for chemical anaylsis, data collection and instrument control with a small but talented team of engineers. When I’m not programming or tearing my hair out over some university report then you’ll find me playing the piano.

I’d like this to be an open forum and I’m completely open to any comments, feedback, critique or, who knows, maybe even a little praise, so leave comments on my posts and articles or get in touch using the Contact page.

Well I think that about covers it. I’m new to this web stuff so please bare with my while I try and figure out how all this is going to work and get some articles written up about some of my older projects. I’ve set up a Contact page and an About page that pritty much just says this again and I’m polishing of the other pages and trying to add a few interesting links to some useful sites I know of.

I’m really excited to finally get this off the ground and am looking forward to seeing where we can take this!!

Thanks very much,

Chris
